BEVERLY HILLS-The Police Unity Tour’s 7th Chapter – Southern California set out to participate in the annual bike ride on May 10. The Police Unity Tour donated $1,910,000 to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
The organization aims to “ride for those who died” by participating in the annual bike ride, which began in Somerset, New Jersey on May 10 and concluded in Washington, D.C. on May 12. The annual bike ride celebrated their 18th year.
Westside Today reported that a few officers from the Beverly Hills Police Department participated in the bike ride to commemorate the loss of Beverly Hills Detective, Gabriel “Gabe” Coyoca, who died of leukemia in December 2013.
According to a BHPD press release, Coyoca joined the BHPD in 2005 before becoming a detective in 2007. After his passing, a service was held for him on January 3, 2014. Coyoca is survived by his wife and two children. A college fund was established for the children under the name “The Gabriel Coyoca Family Fund.”
