Purse Snatching Bandit Wanted

VENICE—Officials from the Los Angeles Police Department and Pacific Detectives Theft Section is asking for the public’s help to locate the suspect responsible for a series of purse snatchings in the region.

According to the LAPD Blog, starting on May 24, there was a spike in thefts in the area around Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Venice Boulevard. In two separate incidents, a Caucasian male with a thin build, brown hair and a beard was seen taking two purses from restaurants/bars in the region.

On May 25, at approximately 10:15 p.m., the suspect stole a purse from a bar before running out of the establishment. On May 28, at approximately 8:15 p.m., the same suspect waited behind his victim before stealing her purse from a barstool and fleeing the scene. Both incidents transpired at the same location.

The LAPD obtained surveillance footage from the scene of the crimes and is asking for the public’s assistance to locate the suspect.
