HELLO AMERICA!—Living and working in an entertainment community of the arts as Los Angeles, one is blessed to know some of the most loving, sensitive and giving people in the world. I was one of those fortunate enough to have the creative guidance from the late star Juanita Moore for which my play “I Feel Sin Comin’ On” is being dedicated in reading form at the famed Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills on Friday, January 31 at 9 p.m. It’s all because of the generosity of “the” Rabbi David Barron who opened the doors of his beautiful theatre to us.
When this happed I needed to know more about this man Rabbi David Baron. I discovered that his Saban Theater is known as The Temple of the Arts. It is the largest arts and entertainment synagogue in our country. Not only that, Rabbi Baron is responsible for internationally broadcast services on television as well as webcast internationally to US troops overseas.
Rabbi David authored the art and inspirational prayer book “Sacred Space,” and the High Holy Day prayer book “Sacred Moments” featuring the biblical art of Marc Chagall. When reading what this man has accomplished, one gets a bit out of breath. He has made TV guest appearances on CNN, NBC, PBS and Good Morning America.
The Rabbi chaired the global gathering honoring Righteous Holocaust Era Diplomats at the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations in New YorkApril 1999. Not only that Rabbi David, as founder and President of the Committee for Righteous Deeds, he chaired and produced the world premiere of the History Channel Documentary “Diplomats for the Damned.”
The American Jewish Television Hour was also on the Rabbi’s schedule when he delivered weekly sermons in Los Angeles. He founded the Temple of the Air and produced a nationally televised High Holy Day program for the homebound featuring numerous celebrities. He has interviewed a number of world-renowned scholars, authors and political leaders including Eli Wiesal, Abba Eban, Ykov Agam, the late Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, and Dr. Jonas Salk.
Having the Saban Theatre open its doors to our Pre-Broadway play “I Feel Sin Comin’ as a tribute to our late star Juanita Moore was the kind of recognition beyond our imagination, but then again with a man like Rabbi David Baron” it’s not that surprising is it?
