SAN DIEGO—On May 9 and 10, Ann Marie Houghtailing will be performing her one-woman show, “Renegade Princess” for special needs and general audiences. In a video posted on the show’s official website, Houghtailing reveals that she had taken a year off to pursue her dream which entailed her writing a one woman show and having the opportunity to perform it in  New York.

Houghtailing says the show is meant to bring people together by letting them know “we’re all in this together in our own struggle, in our own ridiculousness.” She felt most proud of her ability to “be completely emotionally honest, remarking that ‘it’s hard to talk about failing and doing things you’d hope no one would find out… [she hoped] it would allow [her audience] to feel that humanity and…they walk out able to laugh at themselves, and able to feel a connection to [her] because that’s what really good story-telling does.”

Describing the show as an autobiographical piece, Houghtailing explains that her show is an “American fairy tale undone…”Renegade Princess” is a quick paced, outrageous and bawdy journey of one woman’s quest to rise above the myth.”

Houghtailing will be showing her performance to both general audiences and ASL audiences. “The Renegade Princess Production serves as An Act of Love for Those With Special Needs,” the website remarks. The shows start at 7:00 p.m. on both Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10. The show is said to end at 8:30 p.m.

For each showing, 15 VIP seats will be sold for $50. The VIP seats include the opportunity to “meet and greet with the artist, Ann Marie, before the show with a VIP Backstage Pass and reserve your seat before the doors open. In addition, [the buyer] will receive 2 free raffle tickets and wine and cheese. An ASL interpreter will be provided for VIP.” The tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for another ticket or another day.

General admission and ASL-requested admission both cost $25. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 6:30 p.m. to find their seats. “Renegade Princess” will be shown at the Tenth Avenue Arts Center located on 930 10th Avenue in San Diego, CA 92101.
