SANTA MONICA—The Santa Monica City Celebration, COAST, is returning this year on September 15. The celebration will close sections of Ocean Avenue, Colorado Esplanade and Main Street to cars, but will remain open to the public. Attendees can walk or use alternative methods of transportation like bikes, rollerblades or scooters. There will be live music, performances, food and arts and crafts.

The celebration is centered around celebrating sustainable community fun without cars. Some of the activities include a pop-up roller rink, a public skate park, jump rope, community mural, open bike lanes, community garden tours, and the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market.

There will also be live performances in a wide array of genres including mariachi, folk and classical music. On the day of the event, the Big Blue Bus service will offer free rides across all routes for the public. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
