HOLLYWOOD—The Los Angeles Police Department are hunting for the suspect responsible for attacking an 88-year-old man who was getting off a bus. The incident occurred on August 19 at around 3:30 p.m., where the suspect followed the victim after he exited a bus at Hollywood Boulevard and Bronson Avenue.

According to the LAPD blog website, as the victim walked near the 5900 block of Carlos Way, the suspect confronted him and demanded money, but the victim continued to walk. The suspect confronted the victim a second time in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The video surveillance depicts the suspect blocking the victim from walking towards the apartment building, but the victim was able to get past the suspect and enter the building, where he was followed.

When the victim entered the elevator room, the suspect overpowered the victim from closing the door and forced his way inside. The video shows the suspect pushing the victim against the wall several times and hurling him down to the floor and trying to take his property.  The suspect continued to follow the victim into the elevator, where the elderly man handed the suspect money. The suspect wanted more cash and punched the victim multiple times, before exiting with the victim and his property.

Authorities are describing the suspect as a White or Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. He stands about 5 feet and 8 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds and is around 25 years of age. The suspect was seen wearing a gray baseball cap with a fed bill, a black t-shirt with white print on the front, floral shorts and black tennis shoes.

The Los Angeles Police Department Robbery detectives also noted the suspect was seen carrying a black and white checkered backpack and white plastic bag. Video surveillance of the incident is available at the Media Relations Section, PAB Room 257-B.
