HOLLYWOOD—Singer Shakira, 38, and her boyfriend, soccer player Gerard Piqué, 28, have welcomed their second child together in Barcelona.
Shakira announced the news via Twitter on January 30.
The star’s official website page added, “We are happy to announce the birth of Sasha Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 29 at 9:54pm, in Barcelona. The name Sasha is of Greek and Russian descent and means “defender of mankind” and “warrior.” The hospital confirmed that both mother and child are in excellent health.”
The couple first met at the 2010 World Cup. Shakira attended the soccer event to perform the World Cup anthem “Waka Waka.”
Shakira and Piqué welcomed their first son, Milan, in January 2013.
