BEVERLY HILLS—On Wednesday, August 19, actress Shannen Doherty, 44, revealed in a lawsuit case against former managers that she has been battling breast cancer.

In March, Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer and she was informed that if the cancer had been discovered sooner there may have been a chance to stop it. Doherty did not have health insurance and was not able to visit a doctor. The actress is now going through chemotherapy and may need a mastectomy.

Doherty has decided to sue her former managers from the company Tanner, Mainstain, Glynn, and Johnson due to negligence and mismanagement of her money. She faults her managers arguing that money was not managed as it should as it was meant to be, causing her health insurance to lapse. The lapse of her health insurance occurred in 2014 and could not be reinstated until the opening period in 2015.

Doherty’s husband, Kurt Iswarienko is also filing a lawsuit against her management company. Iswarienko who is a photographer is suing the company because of the mismanagement of the couple’s money, which has caused tax audits.

Doherty grew to fame with her starring role as student Brenda Walsh on the 1990s TV show “Beverly Hills 90210.” Her television popularity continued when she became part of the trio of witches on the series “Charmed” where she played older sister Prue Halliwell. She left the series “Charmed” after reports of the actress have issues with her co-star Alyssa Milano.

The exact amount that Doherty and her husband are suing the management company for in damages has not been disclosed.
