SHERMAN OAKS—Karlen Shubaralyan, 37, of Sherman Oaks, was charged with 10 felony counts in a domestic violence case, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced on Thursday, February 18.
The suspect is facing one count of forcible rape, stalking and first-degree burglary, person present; two counts each of injuring a spouse and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime and three counts of criminal threats in case PA085711.
The felony complaint filed for warrant includes an allegation that the defendant inflicted great bodily injury under circumstances involving domestic violence and that the victim had a restraining order against Shubaralyan.
The complaint also notes the allegation that the suspect was out on bail or on his own recognizance for case LA082506. The unrelated case charges the defendant with nine felony counts including grand theft and passing non-sufficient funds for checks exceeding $950.
He is expected to appear in court on February 22 for an arraignment in Department S of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch. He victimized his ex-wife beginning in 2014, with the most recent alleged attack taking place on February 8, 2016.
If Shubaralyan is convicted of the charges he faces, he could face a possible maximum sentence of 25 years and eight months in state prison. The suspect was arrested by authorities on February 18 and no bail
Case PA085711 was filed on Feb. 17 and Shubaralyan was arrested on February 18 and was not given a bail warrant.
The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, Devonshire Division.
