HOLLYWOOD HILLS—A new shuttle service will drive tourists to the famousHollywood sign starting on May 3.

To alleviate some of the massive congestion that has faced the area from tourists and others wanting to see the sign, the Department of Recreation and Parks and Councilman Tom LaBonge have created a shuttle program that will take tourists to see the sign and the Griffith Observatory, as announced by a press release from the department.

“It is a program we are excited and proud to announce, and feel it will benefit both the surrounding communities, as well as locals and tourists who wish to visit these historic landmarks,” said General Manager of Recreation and Parks Michael A. Shull.

The 21 passenger shuttles, provided by Empire Transportation Services, will take riders from the Greek Theater parking lot to the Hollywood Sign Viewing Area, where they will have access to the hiking trails in the area. Afterwards, the shuttles will take passengers to the Griffith Observatory, where they will be able to enter free of charge with their shuttle tickets to access the Observatory’s exhibits.

The program is promotional in nature and will only last for three months until July. Tickets will run $7, but children under the age of 2, can ride for free. The shuttles run continuously between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
