MALIBU—Six missing hikers were rescued from Malibu State Park on Saturday, December 27.

After receiving a call about four missing hikers at around 5:55 p.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department “Copter 15” and Malibu Search and Rescue teams soon arrived to locate and extract the hikers.

When they first arrived, they located two individuals who fit the description of the call. They were distressed, but were not the hikers who made the call.

Volunteers of Malibu Search and Rescue proceeded to survey the area and identified the four hikers they had been looking for. “Copter 15” extracted three, while the fourth had to be treated by a paramedic for a head injury. He was eventually loaded into the helicopter and taken to safety.

There was a total of eight missing hikers, but two of them were able to “self rescue.” The rescue operation was completed by 8:30 p.m.
