VENICE—Snapchat is selling smart sunglasses out of a vending machine in Venice Beach.

These glasses, called Spectacles, have built-in wireless video cameras. The frames can be bought from bright yellow machines, known as Snapbots, for $129.99.

Snapchat’s headquarters is located near Venice Beach. A map has been created so customers are updated on new machines in the region.

Spectacles take 10 second videos that wirelessly sync with a smart phone to post on Snapchat. The glasses come in three colors: black, teal, and coral. To record, the user presses a button on the frames, which simultaneously makes the ring around the camera light up. These videos allow you to re-watch memories from a first-person perspective.

The glasses are already being re-sold on Ebay for up to $1,000.

“We’ve created one of the smallest wireless video cameras in the world capable of taking a days worth of Snaps on a single charge, and we integrated it seamlessly into a fun pair of sunglasses,” stated a post on the Snapchat website.

The Snapbot unveiling comes after Snapchat changed its name to Snap Inc. when the creation of Spectacles was first announced in September.
