PALM SPRINGS—Spring is beautiful everywhere but oh, friends… Palm Springs this time of year is magnificent! Sitting in the warm sun, fanned by palms, looking up at snow-capped mountains makes one realize Southern California must be the place where God lives.

Nestled against the mountain in old Palm Springs is one of my favorite dining spots, Spencer’s. It’s part of the famous Tennis Club, not to be confused with the Racket Club.

Spencer’s offers dining for the sophisticated palate in a very laid back comfortable atmosphere. The ambiance provides soft familiar tunes on the piano to accompany that most pleasant sound of martinis being “shaken not stirred”… oooohhhh those martinis are good! For wine drinkers, the selection is impressive but compatible with every pocketbook.

Proud owner, Harold Matzner, has secured a fine staff, headed by outstanding chef, Eric Wadlund, to serve patrons in all the dining rooms and the lush pool side patio as well. The upstairs dining/ event room is a perfect venue for social functions, weddings, celebrations and charitable events.

When it comes to charity, Matzner is an outstanding example of civic involvement and philanthropy. It is indeed a pleasure to recommend a fine establishment operated by a fine person.

Spencer’s is located three blocks west of Palm Canyon at 701 West Baristo Road Palm Springs, Calif. 92262. You can make reservations by calling 760-327-3446. Valet Parking is available.
