SAN ANTONIO—It was the battle that basketball fans had been waiting for all year. The San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat having a rematch of the 2013 NBA finals, and Game 1 proved to be no cakewalk for the Heat. The Spurs took Game 1 from the defending NBA champs 110-95.

The big debacle of Game 1 involved Heat star LeBron James who left the game early suffering cramps in his leg. According to reports, James complained about the excessive heat in the arena, which had some malfunctioning. Tim Duncan led his team to victory scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds in the game. His teammate Manu Ginobli had 16 points and 11 assists in the game, while Tony Parker had 19 points and eight assists in the game.

James scored 25 points for the Heat during the 33 minutes he played, while Chris Bosh had 18 points and Dwayne Wade had 19 points in the game. The game was evenly matched for both teams throughout the game with Miamiholding the lead 78-74 going into the fourth. It was during the fourth quarter which saw the Spurs flourish, with 36 points compared to Miami’s 16 points.

The Spurs shot for 59 percent during Game 1. Game 2 will take place on Sunday, June 8, where the Heat will have to regroup to get themselves back in the game to prevent going down two games to none as they head to Miamifor Game 3.
