HOLLYWOOD—The annual Met Gala took place on Monday, May 7, it’s the fashion industry’s night of nights, an event that celebrates the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is located in New York. One of the world’s largest art galleries located on the eastern edge of Central Park along Manhattan’s Museum Mile. Celebrities rock up the city that never sleeps to pay tribute to the Costume Institute and their new exhibition.

The star-studded party raised money for the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute-but it is also an opportunity for beautiful people to wear beautiful clothes. Every year they have a theme, this year’s theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination-also the title of the Met’s new exhibition. The theme was selected to pay tribute to the masterworks of religious art in the museum through the medium of fashion. The stars rocked the Met Gala. Madonna wore a demure Jean Paul Gaultier full-skirted, long sleeve gown, which looked fabulous.

 

Actress Blake Lively wore a Versace gown with intricate gold designs embellished on dark red satin-topped with a jewel-encrusted gold bodice. She looked stunning. The “Gossip Girl” star showed up without Ryan Reynolds. She actually traveled to the ball in a party bus, according to reports to accommodate the beautiful gown. It’s Blake’s second year in a row wearing Versace. Ariana Grande took to the Sistine Chapel ceiling. She aced the look, with religious imagery in her Vera Wang creation.The off-the-shoulder dress featured a painting of Michelangelo’s The Last Judgement, which is housed at the Sistine Chapel in Rome.

Rihanna blessed us in a papal hat, which blended in with her intricately embellished mini with a train and matching shawl-collar coat, with Christian Louboutin heels, jewelry by Cartier, Gilan and Narcisa Pheres. Selena Gomez wore a gauzy custom Coach slipdress with a bag by the brand and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Kim Kardashian looked stunning with a curve-hugging golden sequin Atelier Versace gown with crosses beaded into the material and diamond cross necklaces by Lorraine Schwartz. Her sister Kendal Jenner wore an off-white pants with Jimmy Choo heels. Kylie Jenner wore an Alexander Wang black gown with cutout, tiny sunglasses and Chopard jewelry. Kris Jenner wore a black gown by Tommy Hilfiger.

Jennifer Lopez wore an on-theme beaded and feathered Balmain with Jimmy Choo heels and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. She looked stunning. Model Ashley Graham wore a Prabal Gurung sequin, strapless gown with a satin-edged cape. Missing from the Met Gala was Beyonce and Jay-Z for the second year in a row.
