HOLLYWOOD—Well, it’s official: summer is definitely over. It was a slightly slow weekend at the box office, despite several new flicks hitting theaters. Maintaining the top spot with moviegoers was the biopic “Straight Outta Compton” adding just over $26 million to its total profits thus far.

After less than 10 days in theaters, the flick has already crossed the $100 million mark at the domestic box office. Hate to say it, but there’s a strong chance that “Compton” could be number one at the box office this weekend as well.

Landing in second place was Tom Cruise and “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” with another $11.7 million. After nearly a month in theaters, the fifth installment in the franchise has amounted over $157 million.

The horror sequel, “Sinister 2,” managed to land in third place scaring up $10.6 million. The week’s other new release “Hitman: Agent 47” nabbed fourth place with $8.2 million, while “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” rounded out the top five with $7.4 million.

This week sees the release of the Zac Efron party flick “We Are Your Friends” and the Owen Wilson thriller “No Escape.”

Expect another slow weekend at the box-office as things kick in gear for the back-to-school season.
