HOLLYWOOD—I seriously can’t recall the last time I was super excited about the summer movie season arriving, but 2015 is looking like one of the best to date. We have superheroes, ghosts, funny ladies, dinosaurs and more superheroes; enough for the entire family to enjoy.

The month of May will be one of the biggest movie months to date in my opinion. The sequel, “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” hits theaters on May 1 and the big question everyone wants to know is rather the film will be able to surpass its predecessor which broke box-office records with more than $207 million in its opening weekend. I would argue, it’s possible, but I’m not sure, sequels rarely surpass the original, but considering this popcorn flick has all the ingredients of a cinematic experience it very well could. I mean how often does Iron Man, Captain American, The Hulk and Thor all appear in the same movie?

If you’re looking for laughs than Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon play fugitives on the run in “Hot Pursuit” arriving in theaters on May 8. I must say the chemistry between the two ladies look to deliver bellyaches. If you’re looking for something destitute than Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron present a world that no one wants to live in with “Mad Max: Fury Road” on May 15. Not too familiar with this franchise, but the action sequences look epic to say the least. A sequel everyone is dying to see “Pitch Perfect 2” arrives on the same day bringing the ladies we love back to the singing stage on a national level. There will be plenty of laughs for this one.

Besides “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” a movie on my list is the remake of the 80s classic “Poltergeist” this time starring Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt which chronicles the tale of some evil entities torturing a family. If you haven’t seen the trailer, don’t watch it with any clowns sitting around. The thriller hits the theater on May 22, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

The month of June sees the return of many popular franchises. First up the audience gets the movie adaptation of the hit TV show “Entourage” arriving on June 5. On that same day, the third installment of the “Insidious” franchise, “Insidious: Chapter 3” hits theaters. A week later, the movie that changed American’s perception about dinosaurs, “Jurassic World” starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard hits the multiplex. I’m dying to see this, but hoping that the movie delivers the thrills that the trailer so obviously hints at.

Parents looking for something to entertain the youngsters can treat them to “Inside Out,” on June 19. The movie examines a bunch of various emotions that have their own little characteristics inside the main character’s head. Yeah, it sounds quite interesting to say the least. Everyone’s favorite pouty-mouth teddy bear “Ted” returns on June 26. First time I saw the movie I died laughing, so I an only imagine the hi-jinks from Seth MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg this time around.

The Fourth of July is always a big time at the multiplex, and this year there is something for the ladies and the guys. For the ladies they’ll be treated to more stripping and Channing Tatum in the sequel “Magic Mike XXL.” For the guys, the fifth installment in the “Terminator” franchise, “Terminator: Genisys” reunites the audience with Arnold. Both films arrive on July 1.

Remember those odd little creatures from “Despicable Me?” Well they are headed back to the big-screen in their standalone film “Minions” arriving on July 10. I can already see the box-office flooded with ticket sales for this movie.

Like I said, superheroes are dominating the box-office in 2015, and the latest adaptation “Ant-Man” starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas arrives on July 17. More fun for the family arrives on July 24 as “Pixels” hits the multiplex.

When I first saw this trailer my mouth literally dropped, so imagine the giddiness I had when I learned that “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” would be arriving sooner than I thought on July 31. Yes, Tom Cruise is back and he’s hanging from an airplane. Yes, the stunts look epic to say the least.

The month of August kicks off in a big way with the return of a reboot of the “Fantastic Four” starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell on August 7. The trailer does a terrific job at teasing the audience of the origin story and chaos to come. Definitely a must-see!

August 14 marks the return of the spy thriller with “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” starring Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill. That same weekend sees the release of the hotly anticipated drama “Straight Outta Compton” chronicling the rise of the rap group NWA.

Wrapping up the month is a sequel more than 15 years in the making as “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny.” Many will be happy to know that Michelle Yeoh will reprise her role in the sequel which hits theaters on August 28. That same day treats fans of the video game “Hitman” with a new chapter, “Hitman: Agent 47” which arrives in theaters on August 28.

So summer 2015 looks to deliver plenty of fun at the multiplex rather its drama, action, comedy, animation or horror you’re looking to indulge in, there is something for everyone.
