HOLLYWOOD—Well its not, sweeps yet, but the ABC soap, “General Hospital” is definitely pulling out the stops to keep viewers tuned in for the month of August. For weeks, speculation has been running rampant regarding the return of actress Kimberly McCullough in the role of Dr. Robin Scorpio-Drake, and she made her return to “GH” on Tuesday, August 5.

It was an interesting moment where the doctor who left her family behind in hopes to resurrect her dear friend Jason Morgan from beyond the grave. Imagine the surprise on her face when she came face-to-face with her estranged hubby Patrick (Jason Thompson). He was literally in awe to discover that his wife had been lying the entire time about her true location.  For a couple who has been “GH” faves for years, this relationship is on the rocks big time. Robin was petrified that Patrick discovered her location, which has me intrigued.

I have every reason to believe Jason is close by, but Robin is hiding an even bigger secret and I can’t wait to find out what it is. Let’s just hope the writers deliver on the surprise for the audience, and we also get that first glimpse of the actor who will fill the shoes of Jason previously portrayed by Steve Burton. Robin informed Patrick that the person in the capsule was not Jason, but Stavros Cassadine! I think Robin is lying, when she revealed that Jason was dead, she can’t lie with a straight face to the man she loves with all her might.

This week also marks the return of Victor Cassadine, who only appears in Port Charles to deliver shocking news to its residents. Just what does Victor have in store for the citizens this time around; just wait and see. This means he’ll perhaps have some interaction with Dr. Obrecht and that persistent rumor that he may be the father to Nathan.  Yep, Liesl has been quite coy regarding the paternity of Nathan’s father.

I must say the addition of Michelle Stafford to the soap as Nina Clay is superb. She seems to be having more interaction with the characters in Port Charles than many imagined. At first, the bulk of her interaction involved Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Silas (Michael Easton), but now she’s becoming entangled with Carly (Laura Wright) and Franco (Roger Howarth). People should be reserved as Nina is a black widow, and she will bite anyone who stands in her way. She should be careful because Sam and Patrick are close to discovering her secret, but I have a feeling there is more about Nina that not even the audience knows.

The mob war has been quiet lately, but the explosion to attorney Alexis Davis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) home has left many in an uproar. Its apparent Julian (William deVry) knows that Mickey was responsible for the bomb that could have resulted in many deaths. How did Julian respond to the threat, he took out his colleague, and nearly discovered the identity of Jordan, as a DEA agent. Julian’s world is being turned upside down, not to mention the fact that his sister Ava (Maura West) has asked for his help to protect her from Sonny (Maurice Benard) killing her. It seems now Julian, Ava, Carly, Franco and Fluke all know that Sonny killed AJ, but only Ava, Carly, Franco and Sonny know that Ava murdered Connie. It is indeed a tricky spot to be placed in.

Speaking of Jordan she is fighting her attraction to Sean, while carefully getting to discover that Julian’s boss is Luke/Fluke (Anthony Geary). I am so sick of this long drawn out mystery, please clue in the audience on who the person who has taken Luke’s identity is. Its long overdue and driving the audience bonkers in my opinion. I will be completely disappointed if the true revelation doesn’t lead up to all the hype that the writers have shrouded this individual’s identity behind. If you set-up a mystery, the reveal better deliver otherwise you’ll lose audience members.

Can’t wait to see what other big reveals will come with the return of Robin and Victor to PC. “GH” airs weekdays at 2 p.m. on ABC.
