HOLLYWOOD—On August 4, a suspect accused of the March 26, 2010 killing of a mother in Hollywood has been charged with the December 11, 2008 killing of the woman’s husband, Khachik Safaryan, and their 8-year-old daughter, Lusine Safaryan.  The defendant is also charged with the March 11, 2010 killing of another woman, Julie Kates, who is believed to have been a female acquaintance of the other victims.  She along with Safaryan’s husband and daughter were fatally shot in the head.

The suspect, Alberd Tersargsyan, has received charges alleging special circumstances of lying in wait and multiple murders, which may classify this as a possible death penalty case, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.  Tersargsyan was charged in April with shooting 38-year-old Karine Hakobyan to death while inside her vehicle in Hollywood.

The victim had just returned to her residence at approximately 8 p.m. on March 26, when she parked her car outside of her apartment on Lexington Avenue, where the fatal shooting occurred.

Tersargsyan’s arraignment hearing has been deferred to August 13. Deputy District Attorney Eric Harmon, of the Major Crimes Division, is the prosecutor of the case.
