BEVERLY HILLS—A suspicious poweder was discovered at the Beverly Hills Police Department Headquarters on Monday, July 1 at around 3:30 p.m.

Surrounding areas near 464 N. Rexford Drive were evacuated starting from Redford Drive to Santa Monica Boulevard and Burton Way.

According to officials the Beverly Hills Police Department was assisted by the Beverly Hills Fire Department, the Los Angeles County HAZMAT Team, the FBI and the FBI HAZMAT team during the investigation.

The BHPD tweeted “#LASD Tactical HazMat Team on scene assisting our partners at @BeverlyHillsPD regarding a threatening letter they received containing an suspicious powder. Letter and contents were examined. Powder was non-hazardous. Neighborhood safe.”

Officials pronounced the suspicious item non-hazardous and reopened roads in the region. Canyon News reached out to the Beverly Hills Police Department for more details, but could not be reached before print.
