STUDIO CITY—On Monday, January 5, at around 7:30 a.m., officers from North Hollywood Division responded to reports of a man brandishing a handgun on the 3900 block of Fredonia Drive near Cahuenga Pass in Studio City.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, “When the the officers approached the suspect’s last known location, they saw the suspect armed with a firearm.”

The suspect ran away from the officers, which prompted a foot pursuit of the assailant.

With the help of local witnesses, the officers were directed to a nearby home, in which the suspect had reportedly been hiding. An LAPD helicopter assisted in tracking the suspect’s location and confirmed that he had entered the suspected home nearby.

The officers then formed a barricade around the home, at which point they requested reinforcements from the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).

When the SWAT team arrived, they assumed control of the situation.

According to LAPD, “The suspect was not struck by the gunfire and immediately surrendered without incident. No officers were injured and the suspect’s gun was recovered at scene.”
