Teen Arrested In Attempted Rape

TOPANGA CANYON—Authorities from the Los Angeles Police Department have arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male in an attempted rape of a woman on December 14.

The incident occurred at around 9:40 p.m., when a 28-year-old woman was riding her bicycle near the Los Angeles River, west of Corbin Avenue, when the suspect attacked her. The suspect knocked the woman off her bike and tried to sexually assault her.

The victim fought back and screamed for help. The suspect ran away and the victim contacted authorities to give a description of the attacker. The LAPD West Valley Officers noticed a 14-year-old juvenile male, who matched the victim’s description. A field show-up was conducted and the victim positively identified her attacker. He was arrested for attempted rape. He is being detained at the Sylmar Juvenile Hall. The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustained and later released.
