LAUREL CANYON—A shoplifting incident on Friday, March 25, ended in a homicide. On March 25 at approximately 9:00 a.m. North Hollywood uniformed patrol officers received a call for an “Ambulance ADW Stabbing.”

The suspect entered a local store on the 5300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and stole items, Officer Matthew Ludwig told Canyon News. The two victims followed the suspect out of the store and attempted to retrieve the stolen items. The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the two victims before fleeing westbound.

When the officers arrived at the scene they encountered the two victims lying on the ground. The Los Angeles Fire Department transported the victims to a local hospital. The male victim later died from injuries he sustained. The female victim is in critical condition.

The suspect was arrested by the responding officers a few blocks away from the location. Officer Ludwig told Canyon News that no updates have been made on the female victim’s condition and no identifications have been released regarding the suspect apprehended or either of the victims in the incident.
