BEVERLY HILLS—This week Hollywood legend Tony Curtis was put to rest, I caught up with “Old Yeller” child-star Beverly Washburn who adds such a positive and classy touch to the entertainment industry, Mel Gibson’s life seems to be getting even more complicated, Lisa Rinna’s lips actually have been downsized, some good news on Academy award-winning actor Michael Douglas and I caught up with two musician friends in Hollywood.

Beverly Washburn is one of the few child-stars who didn’t turn out to be troubled or unhappy. Though Beverly has endured a lot in her life, she still remains a beaming positive force in Hollywood and her book “Reel Tears” will be re-released with even more fun details about the life of a child who was known for crying on cue for the director, and for acting opposite so many legendary film stars. Miss Washburn tells Canyon news, “Tommy, I am so amazed at the continuing popularity of ”˜Old Yeller’ and feel so blessed to have been a part of it. I will be at a screening of it on October 23 at 11:30 a.m. at the Rheems Theatre in Moraga, California. There will be a Q&A and autograph signing afterwards.”

Beverly has also been extremely busy with her autobiography. “I have been working on the revision of ”˜Reel Tears’ and will be doing the audio version probably in November. We are looking at a January re-release date if all goes well. I’m excited about it and so grateful for the response. This will basically be the same book but with lots of added stories and photos,” said the actress. “I recently narrated the episode I did called ”˜Parasite Mansion’ on a new boxed set of the old Boris Karloff series ”˜Thriller.’ It’s now available on Amazon.com. It was fun to go into an L.A. recording studio again. It brought back fond memories of working on that show. It starred the amazing Jeanette Nolan as the grandmother who caused terrible things to happen to me.”

Washburn is also attending, as a special celebrity-guest, at the World Con III this year in Manhattan. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn on 57thStreet right in Manhattan from October 15-17.

Michael Douglas, 66, has completed a grueling eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. Douglas has another month or so of rehabilitation, before he knows if his cancer is in remission. The actor is reportedly in very high spirits and everyone is praying that he will pull through.

“The Today Show” reported earlier in the week that Mel Gibson’s ex- Oksana Grigorieva has stated that she believed Mel would kill her, and that’s the reason she made the tapes. She denies ever trying to extort money from the Oscar-winner, but his camp still contends that was her motive for audio taping her conversations with Mel. Grigorieva also alleges that he threatened her with a gun and hit her. Though, she still wants him to be a part of their daughter’s life. The full explosive story will be featured this weekend in People Magazine.

Singer Patrick Basile tells Canyon News, “My CD ”˜The Natural Man’ is now on iTunes. It’s truly an exciting time right now, Tommy.” The formal release of the much anticipated CD means a lot to Patrick. It is also available on CD Baby. Basile’s Christmas CD will be released in November.

Cabaret star Andrea Marcovicci will be performing at the Gardenia in West Hollywood on Friday, October 22, and Saturday, October 23. Highlights of songs the beautiful singer plans to perform include, “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “Love Me or Leave Me,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” “Body and Soul,” “Just Like a Man,” and “Shakin’ the Blues Away.”

“I’m always thrilled to sing at the Gardenia for familiar faces that enjoy helping me work on my new shows! This year marks my 25th anniversary in cabaret and it never ceases to amaze me that I’m still meeting brand new people that are catching on to this wonderful art form for the very first time, because someone that’s been seeing me for years brings a friend that has never been before,” said Marcovicci. “After this, it’s off to the Algonquin for my 24th consecutive year! I begin there on November 16, and play through to December 30, including, for the very first time, some very special matinees!”

Just in time for her new reality show with husband Harry Hamlin, Lisa Rinna revealed her new, thinner lips. The actress had previously become famous for her big lips, but after decades of a silicone implant in her top lip, she has removed the silicone, stating she didn’t want to be known only for her lips in Hollywood.

Sending everyone good wishes for the week ahead. See you next week! XOXO
