LOS ANGELES—Former high school coach Thomas Joseph Snider was sentenced to 64 years to life in prison for vulgar acts against male students.

Snider was a wrestling coach who in 1995, 1996, and from 2013 to 2015 molested 25 students by saying he was checking them for skin diseases. According to a press release by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Snider told his victims to take off their clothing and touched their genitals during the alleged inspections.

Along with these examinations, the former wrestling coach would also watch students shower and massage them. The members of the wrestling team told rival players about these acts and the school became aware of the situation.

The Torrance Police Department investigated the case, which led to Snider being found guilty of on 26 felony counts of lewd acts upon a child 14 or 15 years old, 3 felony counts of felony lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14 and 8 misdemeanor counts of child molesting, the LADA Office noted.

“Take him out of here,” said Judge Mark Arnold, Superior Court of Los Angeles County Judge, during sentencing. Parents of some of the victims made statements and wrote letters describing how these acts affected their families.

Snider was arrested in April 2015 and pleaded not guilty. During the trial, some of the victims testified in court about the molestation.
