WEST LOS ANGELES—A truck crashed into a Starbucks coffee shop on Wednesday, October 13, on 8783 W. Pico and Robertson boulevards. The incident occurred during the early morning when the truck pummeled through the front window of the building.

Canyon News spoke to a spokesperson from the Los Angeles Police Department Traffic Division about the case. He indicated that the incident took place between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. The driver of the truck was going north on Pico when another car allegedly attempted to cross the red light. The vehicles collided and sent the truck through the window of the coffee shop. He added that paramedics were called to the scene but no one was injured during the melee. Officials are continuing their investigation of the crash.

Twitter was abuzz with comments about the crash, as Rene Meredith (@dragonrider09) tweeted on October 13, “Someone turned the Starbucks at robertson and pico into a drive thru!!  Everyone looks ok though. [sic]”

Twitter user Mahsa Bokhour (@Mahsa10), who was near the location when it occurred, took a picture of the crash and tweeted, “Truck inside Starbucks on Pico and Robertson CRAZY!!!”  Canyon News was able to speak to Bokhour via Twitter and she said, “Yes I was driving and [saw] just the truck driver losing control and [then the driver] went straight inside [Starbucks] coffee shop. [sic]”

On August 29, there was also a hostage situation near this Starbucks location that resulted in the coffee shop being shut down.  A company spokesperson from Starbucks issued the following statement to Canyon News, “We are aware that a car crashed into our Starbucks store located at 8783 W. Pico Blvd in Los Angeles. While the store was open at the time, fortunately there were no injuries reported.  Starbucks is cooperating with local authorities as they investigate the incident.  The location is currently open.”
