BEVERLY HILLS—This week in Hollywoodland came news that “True Blood” is filming a new season, but also adding new hunks to a show that already has pulses racing when their leading men are on the screen, the death of Ronni Chasen seems to be solved, Jennifer Lopez finds her niche at “AI,” the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin is battling a deadly disease and a holiday gift suggestion from yours truly.

Firstly, actors Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Alexander Skarsgard and Joe Manganiello portray men that viewers of “True Blood” can’t seem to get enough of. The handsome hunks who have the sauciest dialogue in television thanks to creative legend Alan Ball are about to be joined by a couple new hunks during season four of the hit series. Brandon Molale and Randy Wade have been cast for early episodes, but no word on what if any type of super natural-beings they may be. This series has definitely made an indelible mark on viewers and pop culture as well. Hopefully we’ll be seeing my friend Ashley Jones make a return to Bon Temps as shape shifter Daphne. If all the ladies get to have their resident hunks to lust after, we guys deserve our chance to drool over beauties like Ashley. The fourth season begins airing on Sunday, June 12, 2011.

The suicide victim Harold Martin Smith, who was initially being questioned in the Ronni Chasen murder case, is now being officially linked to her murder. The gun that Smith used to kill himself has been forensically linked to the weapon used to murder Chasen, who was a famed Hollywood publicist. Beverly Hills police are working from the theory that Smith shot Chasen while riding his bike, and that he was not a hired hit man.

Aretha Franklin is reportedly battling pancreatic cancer. Calls to Ms. Franklin’s representatives were not returned by press time. However, I’m sure all of her fans and everyone around the world wish Ms. Franklin a recovery and our prayers go out to her at this time.

Jennifer Lopez has taped a supportive message which will be played at audition locations around the country offering her support for the contestant hopefuls. Many believe that “American Idol” realizes its enormous loss with judge Paula Abdul’s departure and may be grooming Lopez to become the new supportive judge for the new season. Good luck to “AI” which saw its ratings tumble last year.

Oprah Winfrey has had enough about lesbian rumors being circulated about her. Oprah will tell the public during her upcoming Barbara Walters special that she is not a lesbian, nor is her best friend Gayle King, and that she would have no reason to deny the rumors if they were true. Oprah says, “What offends me is that I have consistently said it’s not true, and yet people who continue to speculate are accusing me of lying and that I do not like.” My best advice for Oprah is ignore what the tabloids say, just focus your energy on your new (OWN) The Oprah Winfrey Network, which is set to drop on Saturday, January 1, on cable. The talk Queen is in Australia currently and correspondent David Miller is keeping us apprised. More on her trip next week.

It’s still time to purchase holiday gifts for friends, loved ones and coworkers. My suggestion for the Hollywood lover in your life is the book “The Prints of Classic Hollywood.” This tome was a labor of love for me to produce thanks to publisher Ben Ohmart, who did a wonderful job on it. I share hundreds of rare photographs of stars of yesteryear, from my collection of images given to me by many of the classic era movie and TV stars. The book includes rare shots of Shirley Temple, Constance Towers, Debbie Reynolds and Tab Hunter as well as dozens of other stars that we grew up falling in love with and watching on the screen. The book is available from Bear Manor Publishing and also on Amazon.

See you next week! XOXO
