CALIFORNIA—A man was injured in a shooting with the officers from the Los Angeles Police Department on Monday, November 7 in Westlake.

The injured man was with another unidentified man when they were confronted by undercover officers, the Los Angeles Times reported. Authorities opened fired and wounded one of the suspects before the fled the scene.

LAPD Officer Mike Lopez indicated that the shooting occurred around 5 p. m. near 8th and Alvarado Streets in the Westlake area. Authorities have not yet disclosed what caused the shooting or why police were called.

According to reports, undercover officers were in an unmarked vehicle who exited to confront exiting the suspects. Officers searched the perimeter south of MacArthur Park for both men.

One of the men was shot in the arm and taken to a local hospital for treatment, the other was later arrested the Los Angeles Times reported. A firearm was also recovered at the scene of the crime.

There were no reports of injuries to officers involved in the incident. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the two suspects.
