WESTWOODThe UCPD are looking for a suspect who struck a UCLA student after he refused to give them money. According to authorities, the incident occurred sometime around 5:55 a.m. on Friday, July 10 near Glenrock Avenue just south of the main UCLA campus.

The suspect, who appears to have acted alone fled the scene on foot. He was seen traveling south on Levering Avenue, then east on Strathmore Avenue.

According to the official report released by the UCPD, the suspect was a young man in his late 20s about 5 foot and 8 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. The victim noted that the man was wearing a blue T-shirt with blue jeans and wore glasses.

The gender or identity of the UCLA student has not been disclosed. There were no reports of any serious injuries sustained during the incident.

In its incident report, the UCPD also reminded other students of the dangers of walking alone at night. In the event a student is unable to find a walking partner or partners, UCLA offers a free shuttle program that can take its students to and from the campus from their nearby residence in an effort to provide them with secure transportation and to prevent incidents like the one that took place Saturday morning.

According to the UCPD website, a similar incident happened on May 28 where a student was also knocked to the ground by a male suspect. The victim, who was not injured, had his backpack stolen by the suspect, who fled on foot. The two incidents have not been linked together and both suspects remain at large.
