BEVERLY HILLS—My name is “Fritz”, and I’m a little ten pound boy about four years old. I’ve been at the Friends of Animals Foundation for quite a while, and can’t understand why someone hasn’t picked me to be part of their family.  I’m lively and playful and have been told that I have a great personality! I love people and get along just fine with other dogs.  Older children would probably be best, as young ones can be a little rambunctious.  Or, is it that I may be a little too rambunctious for them?  Well, whatever……..
I thought that my shiny, black coat would be one of my “selling” points, but I guess what’s called the “black dog syndrome” is true to some extent, and we’re overlooked so much of the time.  So, let me tell you ten top reasons why you should adopt a black dog. I have to admit that I didn’t come up with these reasons all by myself,  I found them on the internet (or someone found them for me, that is), and to be sure that I give credit where credit is due, it says that the source was the Petfinder Forum dated 3/17/03 Laurie Scanlan. Whew, I don’t want to get in any trouble!
10.  We cannot clash with your furniture or clothing (and some of you actually worry about that).
 9. We cannot clash with any collar you might choose either! Ditto for the bandanas.  Accessorize us!
 8. Ease of vacuuming!  You can quickly spot the areas of most urgent need.
 7. We hide the dirt well (doesn’t mean we don’t need that bath after a messy play but your guests won’t be able to see it so quickly).
 6. We make an excellent “backdrop” for a second lighter colored dog (if you choose to have one).
 5. Availability!!! We are available now at every shelter or rescue you can imagine, in every age bracket with no long waiting lists or difficult search.
 4. No annoying queries of “exactly what kind of dog is that anyhow?”  People are content with “big black dog” and don’t ask anymore questions.
 3. EXCELLENT night walk protection.  The “bad guy” won’t see us till it’s too late!
 2. Status symbol potential.  Black pearls are the most costly you know……..
 1. WE NEED YOU!
There!! I bet that no other dogs can give you that many reasons to adopt them!  So, won’t you please come to see me?  However, I don’t mean to discourage anyone from adopting any of our other dogs – and, oh, yes, we have lots of deserving kitty cats, too!  So, won’t you check our website at: foafla.petfinder.com where you can see everyone of us.  Then all that you have to do is pick up the phone and make an appointment!
