BEVERLY HILLSMy name is Phoenix, and I guess that you can tell by my eyes that I have a sad story to tell. But first let me tell you that this picture was taken when I was just brought into the Friends of Animals Foundation a little over a month ago. Since then I have become a happy little girl, and my eyes are no longer sad, as I am safe and being well cared for, as well as loved.

Now I’ll tell you where and how I was found. Well, all the trash that is picked up by those big trucks end up being dumped in landfills. One day, one of the truck drivers saw me in the middle of one of the landfills, and instead of just leaving me there, picked me up and put me in his truck. He gave me food and water and took me home with him. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to keep me, so he brought me here, where he knew that I would be safe until a home could be found for me.
He said that the only way that I could have been in that landfill was if someone had put me in a trash bin. Then that trash bin was emptied into a truck, which then emptied it into the landfill. Why would anyone do such a thing? How would they like to be treated that way. If you don’t want one of us anymore, or can’t keep us for some reason or another, please give us to a rescue group. Don’t just throw us away like a piece of trash. We are living, breathing creatures with feelings, just like you.
So, now that you know how I landed here, I’ll tell you a little bit about myself. I’m a little girl that weighs about 10 pounds, so I’m a true lap dog. Although I was pretty scared of everything and everybody at first, I”m now one of the gang! I get along with the other dogs, and love to go for walks and be held. I’m not aggressive in any way, and I’m not a barker.
A guess as to my age, is that I’m about 10 years young. So, I hope that there is someone that will make me part of their family, and make up for the love that I didn’t have for the first years of my life. I promise that I will give you lots of love in returnreally I will. I know that there is probably a phone within arms length of you, so won’t you please pick it up and make an appointment to see me? If you have any friends that are looking for a dog or a cat, please have them check out our Web site at foafla@petfinder.com.
