STUDIO CITY—Laurel Canyon Boulevard was closed after an 18-inch water main broke at 7 a.m. on Thursday, August 2. Officials were called to the scene to re-route traffic while the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power worked to fix the ruptured water main.

The rupture caused water to gush out from under the asphalt on Laurel Canyon, one of the busiest intersections in the Studio City region. The closure occurred between Mulholland Drive and Ventura Boulevard. Drivers were forced to seek an alternate route through Coldwater Canyon.

According to reports, at around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, one lane heading in each direction was re-opened once the water main was fixed. Crews remained in the region to fix the roads damaged by the water.

All lanes on Laurel Canyon Boulevard were re-opened on Friday, August 3 after 8 a.m. as crews fixed the street repair. The LADWP tweeted, “All lanes are now open on #LaurelCanyon, thank you.”
