WESTWOOD—A water main broke near Veteran Avenue on Tuesday, March 22 at 5 p.m. on the UCLA campus. The break occurred near Veteran and Strathmore Drive. Veteran Avenue remained open as crews from the Los Angeles Department of Power and Water worked to repair the break.

The water running down the street did not cause any significant flooding or property damage to the campus. A small region of Strathmore Drive was temporarily shut down to traffic, and commuters encountered a slower driving time near Veteran.

According to a press release from UCLA, the UCLA Facilities Management plumbers had “bypassed the leak to restore water service to all campus buildings.” The LADWP is working to repair the water main break which shut off water service to some of the buildings for several hours on campus Tuesday night.

The LADWP released the following tweet on Tuesday: “LADWP crews working on a water break in the Westwood area at Strathmore and Veteran. About 15 services impacted. Repairs on-going.”

The region between Strathmore, Veteran, and Kinross and Gayley Avenues were impacted by the temporary outage.
