WEST HOLLYWOOD—The 2016 LA Pride Celebration will kick-off on Friday, June 10, and continue until Sunday, June 12. The annual event is hosted by the city of West Hollywood and Christopher Street West. Christopher Street West is a non-profit organization which produces the annual Los Angeles LGBTQ LA PRIDE Music Festival & Parade in West Hollywood.

The organization’s goal is the advancement of human rights, education, outreach and equality for the LGBTQ community. According to the organizations’ Facebook page, it was founded in response to the Stonewall Rebellion that occurred on Christopher Street in New York on June 28, 1969. The first parade was in June 1970 in Hollywood, CA.

Due to the music festival, several streets will be closed. West Hollywood Park closed at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 6. It will be reopen at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15. The West Hollywood Library will close at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 9. The library will open back up to the public at on June 13 at 11 a.m. The West Hollywood Pool closed on Monday, June 6 and will re-open at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016. Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard on Friday, June 10, 2016 temporarily from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Check out the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station Twitter account at @WHDLASD which will live-tweet information on when streets are expected to close and reopen. On Thursday, June 9 San Vicente Boulevard will be closed between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue from 7 p.m. until 10 a.m. on Monday, June 13. Starting Sunday, June 12, Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed from Fairfax Avenue to Doheny Drive and streets one block north and south of Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed from Fairfax Avenue to La Peer.

Both streets will be closed from 5 a.m. and will re-open at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 12. Also on Sunday, Crescent Heights Boulevard will be closed from Romaine Street to Fountain Avenue from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. and as well as Norton Avenue will be closed between Havenhurst Drive and Laurel Avenue.

Permit Parking will be suspended for Pride Weekend starting at 4 p.m. on June 10 until 11:59 a.m. on June 13. Metered Parking will be enforced beginning on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, metered parking will not be enforced during the Pride Parade. For the festival, there are designated public parking locations for attendees. Residents can check out the website here for the locations. On Sunday, parking for the event will cost $20.
