SANTA MONICA—The Westside Impact Project is an initiative that was created  to reduce alcohol-related incidents. One aspect of the project is to control the growth of underage drinking in the Santa Monica region.

The Westside Impact Project aims to promote a healthier and safer lifestyle for those who may have become dependent on alcohol. The project is not meant to eliminate alcohol as a whole, but to provide alternatives for those who feel that alcohol is their only way of living.

There are two areas that make alcohol a problem amongst teenagers: a lack of vigilance by those selling the alcohol, and adults. Alcohol has become accessible for teenagers and the Westside Impact Project wants to make those in the community more aware of this problem.

The project is currently being supported and funded by the County of Los Angeles, Department of Public Health, Substance Abuse and Control.
