MALIBU —An unidentified woman allegedly jumped off an edge of a cliff at a Malibu park on Friday, March 12, after a male suspect attempted to sexually assault her.

According to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station, the 35-year-old female victim was out for a morning jog at Point Dume State Park. After completing her run at approximately 11:55 a.m., the unknown suspect grabbed her from behind and tried to sexually assault and rape her.

The woman fought and struggled with the suspect for several minutes, but eventually broke away from him. During her escape, she ran down a hill side at Point Dume, jumped and slid down the cliff.

Though the assaulter did not follow her, he did steal her vehicle and drove in an unknown direction, according to the Sheriff’s Station.

After reporting the crime to police, the victim was taken to a local hospital. She suffered abrasions and bruises from the fall down the cliff.

A sketch of the male suspect is available for viewing in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Web site (lasd.org). The suspect is described to be Caucasian, possibly Hispanic. He is 35 to 40-years-old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs at least 200 pounds. He is also believed to have possession of the victim’s vehicle: a white, 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser.
