SANTA MONICA—On January 2, a woman from Santa Monica was arrested for her forceful attempt to reclaim her child. The 22-year-old woman, whose name has yet to be released to the public, lost custody of her child to her sister, whom she injured in her attempt to get the child back.
The assault occurred in an apartment complex on the 1400 block of Sixth Street, and the police were alerted around 10:00 a.m. to investigate a reported battery. Once paperwork was filed on the incident, the woman was taken into custody for assault in her attempt to retrieve her three-year-old child.
The mother was charged with violation of a court order and her bail was set at $20,000.
