UNITED STATES−According to Worldmeters, over 42 million abortions transpired in 2019. Abortion has been announced as the leading cause of death by Worldmeters, which tracks and is an independent site that uses data collected from government sites as well as other organizations. The site relies on health and mortality statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), which uses estimates by the Guttmacher Institute.
According to WHO, there were 40-50 million induced abortions annually, or 125,000 a day. The Guttmacher Institute reported 56.3 million global abortions in 2019, which is less than 10 percent that can be properly accounted for. Only 23 percent are reportedly on the assumption that abortion rates stay the same and do not waiver when bans are put into place.
As of December 31, 2019, approximately 42.4 million abortions were reported worldwide, which is the equivalent of 80 per second. This figure is double of any other cause of death in the world.
In 2019, a total of 8.2 million people died from cancer. Five million people died in 2019 due to smoking related illnesses, with a total of 1.7 million people dying from HIV/AIDS.
Worldmeter’s website shows a total of 583,812 abortions as of January 6, 2020. In the USA, nearly half of pregnancies are unintended and 4 in 10 are terminated; around 3,000 a day. A total of 22 percent of pregnancies end in abortion.
