BEVERLY HILLS—An accountant who was the CFO of a Beverly Hills Cancer Center, was sentenced on Friday, December 20 for embezzling from both the Beverly Hills Cancer Center and the Girl Scouts organization.

Patricia Cascione, 53, of Santa Clarita pleaded no contest on Wednesday, December 18 to one felony count of embezzlement by a public or private officer, in addition to repaying restitution to both victims named in the case. 

Cascione is a certified public accountant who was the Chief Financial Officer of the Beverly Hills Cancer Center, as well as the volunteer treasurer for two local Girl Scouts of the USA chapters and a Girl Scouts service unit. Between March 1, 2013 and February 13, 2017, she embezzled $58,863 from the Girl Scouts accounts and $34,500 from the Beverly Hills Cancer Center for personal use, totaling more than $93,000. 

Detectives with the Fraud and Cyber Crimes Bureau arrested Cascione for suspicion of grand theft and theft by false pretense. According to the Los Angeles Sherriff’s Department, detectives produced a search warrant at Cascione’s residence after a 15-month investigation. After searching her home, authorities found additional evidence.

Cascione was the treasurer for over 20 years for multiple Girl Scouts Troops and was charged in 2018. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, she was sentenced to one year in jail and five years of formal probation.
