HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Actress Anne Hathaway, 36, with family, friends and fans, gathered on N. Highland Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard to accept her star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, May 9. Hathaway’s new film “The Hustle” opened on May 10.

“This star which has my name on it is not mines,” Hathaway explained during the ceremony. “I do not own it, the district of Hollywood, does not own it. The city of Los Angeles does not own it, anymore than you can own a tree. This star is a piece of space on earth which is shared by everyone and belongs to no-one.”

In 2013, Hathaway earned her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for the character Fantine in “Les Miśerables” directed by Tom Hooper. In 2008, she was nominated for Best Actress for her role in the drama “Rachel Getting Married” directed by Jonathan Demme. In the film, she portrayed Kym a drug addict released from rehab to attend her sister’s wedding.

She made her movie debut alongside Julie Andrews in “The Princess Diaries” in 2001 playing Mia Thermopiles. She also appeared in the films “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Brokeback Mountain” and “Ocean’s 8.”

She married actor Adam Shulman, 38, in 2012, where the couple share a son Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman, who is 3.
