CYPRESS – On Thursday, May 29, OC-DEAF will host a foster care and adoption workshop. According to a flyer for the workshop provided by the OC-DEAF website, the event aims to “provide a child with Deaf language and culture” by “looking for caring parents to foster and adopt Deaf children.” The event starts at 6:30 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Five Acres and the Children’s Bureau. Five Acres, according to their website, “promotes safety, well-being and permanency for children and their families by building on their strengths and empowering them within communities” and is “proud of its 125-year history of service to vulnerable children and their families.”

The Children’s Bureau “is the first federal agency within the U.S. government – and in fact, the world – to focus exclusively on improving the lives of children and families. [They] celebrated a full century of progress on our centennial anniversary, April 9, 2012,” as stated on the website.

The flyer informs prospective parents that foster families are expected to be residents of Los Angeles County or nearby boundary. The workshop will be held at OC-DEAF, located on 6022 Cerritos Avenue in Cypress, CA.

Those who wish to attend the event are required to RSVP by contact Joseanna Moseby by VP: (626) 376-4581, email: jmoseby@5acres.org and text: (847) 707-7405.
