HOLLYWOOD—It was an interesting weekend at the box-office to say the least. Several new flicks arrived in theaters, but they were no competition for fan favorites. “Guardians of the Galaxy” clawed its way back to the top of the box-office with around $17 million. After about a month in theaters, the comic book flick has grossed over $250 million at the domestic box-office.

Grabbing the second spot was last week’s champ “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” with another $16 million to its tally. In just three weeks, “TMNT” has grossed just $5 million shy from the $150 million mark. Landing in the #3 spot was the teenage tearjerker “If I Stay” starring Chloe Grace Moretz.  The movie opened with more than $16.36 million.  In the #4 spot was the cop comedy “Let’s Be Cops” with $11 million. After two weeks, the movie has grossed $42 million.

Rounding out the top five is the football drama “When The Game Stands Tall” with $9 million. Failing to crack the top five was the highly anticipated flick “ Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” with a disappointing $6.4 million. That’s interesting since the movie was quite entertaining in my opinion. Expect next week to be another slow week at theaters as school officially gears into session for many students.
