HOLLYWOOD—It was another slow weekend at the box-office, especially considering the holiday. This allowed previous flicks to dominate the box-office. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” continued to be the summer surprise bringing in an additional $22 million to remain on top. Since its debut almost a month ago, the film has become the highest grossing film of 2014, with more than $280 million domestically.
That outpaces “Captain America: The Winter Solider” which maintained the control much of 2014. Falling into the #2 spot was “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” with another $15 million. After about four weeks in theaters, the turtle have already crossed the $150 million mark domestically.
Nabbing the #3 spot was the teen drama “If I Stay” with about $11 million. New debuts in theaters “The November Man,” “As Above So Below” failed to motivate audiences just barely cracking the top five. The horror flick “As Above, So Below” took in around $10.3 million, while “The November Man” slightly underperformed with $10.2 million.
Expect no big releases this coming weekend, so “Guardians of the Galaxy” or “TMNT” might find themselves fighting for the top spot at the box-office once again.
