HOLLYWOOD—“American Horror Story” star Ben Woolf who starred as Meep in season four of “American Horror Story: Freakshow” has died. Woolf, 34, was struck in the head by the side mirror of a vehicle while crossing the street in Hollywood on February 19. TMZ first broke the news of the incident.
The actor was transported to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition to be treated for injuries he sustained, but had been updated to stable. He suffered a stroke while in the hospital. He died on Monday, February 23. According to reports, the incident was not a hit-and-run as the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.
Woolf’s family issued a statement on his Facebook page stating, “We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from all over the world for our beloved Ben. He touched so many hearts in his 34 years.
His memory will live on within each of us and within his work. Thank you everyone for your love.”
Ryan Murphy, creator of the “American Horror Story” series, tweeted the following on Monday, “RIP Ben Woolf. One of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met.”
The producers of “American Horror Story,” FX and 20th Century Fox Television released the following statement: “We are saddened to learn the tragic news about Ben Woolf. He was a tremendous professional and an incredibly kind person, beloved by the American Horror Story family. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans during this difficult time.”
Besides starring in the “AHS” series, Woolf also appeared in the films “Dead Kansas,” “Woggie” and “TV Face.” The actor was diagnosed with pituitary dwarfism when he was a child, and according to IMDb he worked as a preschool teacher.
