SANTA MONICA—Starting June 12, the Annenberg Community Beach House will be hosting a monthly tropical-themed Sunset Swim for adults ages 18 and up.

The community pool parties will be held on the second Friday of each month until the last event on September 11, and they will last from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. There will be music in the Ukulele Lounge, where guests can listen in or play along; activities and games like hula hooping and coconut bowling; and a complimentary frozen fruit treat (one per person, while supplies last). Simply swimming or floating in the pool is also encouraged!

Sunset Swim passes are $10 per person, and will be available on event days at Guest Services. No reservation is required.

The Sunset Swim is one of the Annenberg Community Beach House’s many fun events, which include Dollar Splash Monday, where pool admission—normally $10 for adults, $4 for children ages 4 to 17, and $5 for seniors ages 60 and up—is only a dollar per person. Dollar Splash Monday runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. until August 31.

In addition to being a popular community destination, the Beach House pool has a historical legacy. It is, according to its website, “one of the remaining elements from the historic Marion Davies Estate.”

Newspaper tycoon William Randolf Hearst originally developed the 5-acre oceanfront site in the 1920s for his sweetheart, Hollywood starlet Marion Davies. At that time, the property featured a mansion with upwards of 100 rooms in addition to the marble pool that the public can still use today.
