UNITED STATES—“A TORN JACKET IS SOON MENDED, BUT HARD WORDS BRUISE THE HEART OF THE CHILD,” Longfellow.
A century ago socioeconomic factors were blamed, but now parenting is recognized as instrumental for determining the child’s future. We know parents PROGRAM the child by teaching what paths they are capable of taking, thus dictating a paradigm and predetermining the future.
The atmosphere a parent chooses to provide will set the course of life for that child.
Deleterious parenting (harmful or damaging) makes all the difference between a healthy and thriving child, or one riddled with disabling or maladaptive behaviors. Research proves it true consistently and pretty soon people will have to be held accountable.
Parenting makes the difference between confidence and narcissism and maternal parenting style can predict ADHD. Children who have been sexually and/or physically abused are more likely to be depressed, develop bipolar, schizophrenia, commit suicide, and of course live with the life-diminishing symptoms of PTSD.
All this research is quite telling considering we know the MANY WAYS THAT PARENTS LIE, so we will never truly know how many victims are walking around.
Reporter bias (selective revealing of information), self-preservation, and self-serving bias are all used illogically to rationalize behavior. Many parents make excuses for the child’s behavior rather than try to correct it.
This ‘giving an excuse rather than parenting’ lifestyle goes hand in hand with 2009 research published in the Journal of Consulting And Clinical Psychology, stating that households with mothers that repeat the belief that the child’s behavior was “pervasive” and inevitable, MAY BE contributing to the research that shows how the oppositional behavior did in fact become worse (p.192).
Formerly categorized by people sharing delusions, now people share and pass on BEHAVIORS like; racism, sedition, opposition, learned helplessness, learned narcissism, and even learned ethics. When these deeply instilled behaviors (now somewhat instinctual) conflict with the reality of our world, it causes trauma within the sufferer who has to conform or else become the anomaly.
The MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS in America will NEVER end until we recognize PARENTING as the single largest factor influencing the development of mental illness in youth. Laws have evolved to protect children from physical violence and it is time to put on a UNITED FRONT to do the same for other life-impairing abuses.
THE SOONER WE ARE ALL TALKING ABOUT IT THE BETTER!
The government wants to do something, but WE THE PEOPLE have lost the empathy it takes to understand that youth in America are so OUT OF WHACK due to the bad choices of parents, the CDC publishes COMMON SENSE statements like this:
“Mental health in childhood means reaching developmental and emotional milestones, and learning healthy social skills and how to cope when there are problems. Mentally healthy children have a positive quality of life and can function well at home, in school, and in their communities.”
Notice how they are not pointing the finger at parents…They SHOULD.
“Reaching developmental and emotional milestones” = PARENTING JOB.
“Healthy social skills” = PARENTING JOB.
“How to cope when there are problems” = PARENTING JOB!
We know that children learn their emotions from watching parents (Wolfelt) and emotional disorders are so common that Americans are diagnosed with mood disorders at an astonishing rate, SO WHY is it not being addressed as a crime against HUMAN or even a breach of CIVIL RIGHTS? The right to grow up UNABUSED.
WHY EXACTLY does Uncle Sam keep supporting the proliferation of these social security-draining and soul-killing families by:
1. supporting generational welfare when POVERTY breeds more mentally ill children than any other group, yet Uncle Sam PAYS and FEEDS these known abusive families. BILLIONS of dollars in medicaid-paid bills of defective parenting leading to physical or mental health costs. WE HOLD OUR ATHLETES AND TV STARS UP TO A HIGHER STANDARD THAN WE DO PARENTS!
2. refusing to FIND A WAY to use the FIGHTING WORDS exception (an UNPROTECTED CATEGORY OF SPEECH) as a way to rethink the constitutional rights of parents and others who teach or indoctrinate mentally crippling irrational belief systems such as racism, gender inequality, hate, learned helplessness. All by means of INESCAPABLE circumstances (i.e. familial home).
American children are being taught intolerance, and to hate themselves.
Parents that create physically or mentally disabled children before the legal age to leave home, are the antithesis to society and need to be punished in a way that sets precedent. It is only logical that parents should be held accountable as the law would INSIST IT – if there was a physical injury.
Time for Uncle Sam to CREATE non-discretionary rules that will be a MUST DO for all parents. Something social workers discuss with mothers in the hospital, ESPECIALLY in cases where government assistance is paying the bills. If they are exempt from working they should be MANDATED to parent.
Pope Leo XIII gave us WISE WORDS that have yet to be heeded:
“AS VERY ROUGH WEATHER DESTROYS THE BUDS OF SPRING, SO DOES TOO EARLY AN EXPERIENCE OF LIFE’S HARD TOIL BLIGHT THE YOUNG PROMISE OF A CHILD’S FACULTIES, AND RENDER ANY TRUE EDUCATION IMPOSSIBLE.”
