SACRAMENTO—On Thursday, September 18, the California Association of the Deaf will hold the ASL Celebration at the state capital. According to a flyer for the event, the ASL Celebration recognizes the “human right to sign language.”

 

According to the ASL Celebration website, the event will kick off at 9:00 a.m. with an A.M. Capitol Tour/Greetings to Senators followed by local entertainment at 10:00 a.m.  At 11:00 a.m., the Fremont K-12 performance will begin followed by a legislative/proclamation at 12:00 p.m. At 1:00 p.m., there will be local entertainment before the second round of Capitol Tours, the P.M. Capitol Tour and the Greeting to the Senator at 2:00 p.m.

The event will be located on the north side of the California State Capital from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Talent magicians, singers, poetry, special guests, and capitol tours will also be held.

 

After the event, an ASL Celebration Happy Hour will be held at the Republic Bar & Grill for food and drinks. The restaurant will be opening early for the ASL Celebration attendees at around 3:30 p.m.
