BEVERLY HILLS—Hawthorne Elementary School was placed on lockdown after police received reports of an attempted burglary just two blocks away. The Beverly Hills Police Department were called to the scene of the robbery at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18.

Several police vehicles and a helicopters arrived at a home located on the 800 block of Redford Drive after an employee of the homeowner called 911 saying that two men were trying to break in. A witness told Fox News 11 there were two men attempting to break into the home who were dressed in black hoodies.

Authorities closed down Lomitas Avenue and Crescent Drive while they searched for the suspects. Two blocks away at 624 N Rexford Drive, Hawthorne Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precautionary while police investigated the area.

The BHPD tweeted, “Police Activity in the 800 block of N. Rexford Dr. has concluded. The roadway is now open. Thank you for your patience.”
