HOLLYWOOD—The cause of death for reality television star 25-year-old Leslie Carter remains unknown after an autopsy conducted by the Chautauqua County Coroner’s Office in New York was inconclusive, according to multiple reports.  A toxicology test to determine the cause of death for Carter, who was the sister of Backstreet Boy member Nick Carter, is pending and will be ready in 4-6 weeks but it will be the family’s decision as to whether it’s released to the public.

Leslie Carter died Tuesday, January 31 in New York, New York after family members returned home from running errands to find her unconscious.  She was rushed to the hospital but doctors were unable to revive her.  Reports suggest that Carter had been suffering from an addiction to prescription medication in the days leading up to her death.  It is believed the singer died from an overdose.

Carter made a run at a musical career like her brothers Nick and Aaron in 2000 when she recorded a debut album but it was never released.  She was best known for her role on the E! reality television show House of Carters which was based on the Carter family and focused on their music careers.  Premiering on October 2, 2006, the show ran for 8 episodes.

Leslie Carter is survived by her husband Mike Ashton and 10-month old daughter Alyssa Jane Ashton.
