Bao Identified As UCLA Groping Suspect

WESTWOOD—A suspect has been identified in the case of last week’s series of gropings on UCLA’s campus.

Pengcheng Bao, 24, a graduate student in the school’s chemistry and biochemistry department has been accused of grabbing three female victims by the upper thigh as he walked past them on the sidewalk on May 28.

UCLA police arrested Bao Saturday in his Weyburn Terrace home and booked on seven counts of misdemeanor battery and one count of is demeanor sexual battery.

Bao was allegedly involved in another series of gropings earlier this school year. During those alleged incidents, one of the female victims was able to snap a cellphone picture of the suspect, an image that was posted on a flier that made its way across the UCLA campus.
